Discover the advantages of EPDM

What is EPDM

EPDM stands for Ethylene, Propylene, Diene & Monomer and is a synthetic rubber that offers many benefits for your flat roof. The material is elastic, durable and resistant to various weather conditions. EPDM roofing is easy to install and has a lifespan of 50 years or more.

Advantages of EPDM roofing

Long lifespan

EPDM has a proven lifespan of 50 years or more, which means you will have no worries about your roof for decades.

Weatherproof

EPDM roofing is highly elastic and can therefore expand and contract at different temperatures without any problems.

UV & Ozone resistant

EPDM is not susceptible to damage from UV radiation and ozone, making it less likely to degrade under sun exposure.

Low-maintenance

Due to the durability of EPDM, with a life expectancy of up to 60 years, little to no maintenance is required, saving costs in the long run.

Environmentally friendly

EPDM behaves more neutrally than bitumen. As a result, it will not discolour rainwater and is perfect for rainwater recovery.

Easy to install

EPDM is easy to install because of its light weight and flexibility, making it easy to handle and adapt to different roof shapes.

White EPDM

This durable roofing material offers several key advantages over black EPDM, especially as a solution to the 'urban heat island' effect.

Cooler roofs:

With its light-coloured surface, this EPDM reflects sunlight more effectively, meaning the roof absorbs much less heat. While black roofs can reach 80°C in summer, a white roof remains much cooler. This difference causes buildings to heat up less, contributing to a more pleasant indoor climate.

Longer lifespan:

The cooling effect of white EPDM makes the roof age less quickly and prevents overheating. This keeps it cooler inside and can often reduce the use of air conditioning, contributing to both comfort and lower energy costs.

Optimal yield for solar panels:

An additional advantage of white EPDM is its positive impact on solar panels. Solar panels produce about 0.5% less power per degree above 25°C. With white EPDM, the panels stay cooler, which can give a return increase of up to 15%. White EPDM is therefore a smart and sustainable choice for roofing in modern urban areas.

What is Fleeceback?

What is Fleeceback EPDM?

FRP Fleeceback roof membrane consists of a robust EPDM membrane and a polyester fleece that provides extra strength. This makes the membrane even better protected against perforations from external factors. The fleece also ensures that the roof surface is better smoothed.

Advantages of Fleeceback

Besides the plus points of regular EPDM, Fleeceback has several other advantages:

Extra sturdiness

Thanks to the polyester fleece, Fleeceback offers extra resistance to punctures and tears.

Better adhesion

The polyester fleece ensures better adhesion between the FRP Fleeceback and the surface.

Smooth finish

Fleeceback rolls guarantee a more aesthetic and smoother finish than plain EPDM. Thanks to the fleece, the membrane is less likely to crease.

Green roofs

The fleece provides additional protection against perforations, making Fleeceback very suitable for installing green roofs.

Why choose FRP's Fleeceback?

Fleeceback EPDM offers significant advantages over traditional EPDM thanks to the addition of a polyester fleece layer. This layer provides extra strength, making the membrane more resistant to punctures and cracks, even under harsh conditions. The fleece also improves adhesion to the substrate, resulting in a long-lasting and stable installation. Due to its reinforcement with the fleece, Fleeceback EPDM has a more aesthetically pleasing finish without creasing, which contributes to a sleek end result. These properties also make Fleeceback EPDM ideal for green roofs, with the membrane providing an extra strong protective layer against root growth and other stresses. These unique benefits make Fleeceback EPDM an excellent choice for those looking for durability, weather resistance and a perfect finish.

What is the difference with Roofing?

What is Roofing?

Roofing, also known as bitumen or asphalt, is a popular and economical choice for flat roofs and, in some cases, slanted roofs. It is made from petroleum and is reinforced with polyester or glass fleece. Thanks to synthetic fibres, modern-day roofing is more flexible than before. Roofing has an average lifespan of 30 years.

Why choose Roofing from FRP

Unrivalled Quality:

At FRP, we aim for the highest quality roofing on the market. You can contact us for the following products:

Underlay: We offer various vapour barriers that provide the first barrier against moisture, condensation and mould growth.

Renovation layer: This additional layer of roofing is applied over existing, damaged or outdated roofing. The renovation layer extends the life of the roof and prevents leakage by sealing small cracks, blisters or other defects.

Top layer: The top layer ensures complete waterproofing of the roof. It also protects against weather influences such as UV rays, extreme temperatures, wind and hail. It also offers protection against mechanical influences.
